| Journals and periodicals represent a very large investment
for many libraries, not only in their academic contribution
but, in their acquisition cost. Both are good reasons for
ensuring they are protected and kept for future reference
and scholarship.
Combining issues in a sewn, cloth covered, hard case binding,
complete with acid free endpapers, is the ideal way of protecting
that investment. Not all journals are produced in the same
manner by publishers – some are printed on paper with
a matt finish whilst others are printed on glossy paper,
some have individual issues sewn and others are adhesive
bound. We can handle all formats and supply our customers
with a very robust sewn, cloth covered, binding.
As a matter of course we keep a record of all journal bindings,
noting the order of contents, lettering layout and style,
and the colour of the cover material – we keep 27
shades in stock at all times. So ensuring that when we bind
the next collection of issues they match existing bound
volumes.
